Hop hop hop!

Priecigas Lieldienas!!
Happy Easter

This morning I delivered my parents to the airport for them to fly home.  It was sad to see them go but I know that I will see them in two months again.  It was really great having them here for the time.

After returning from the airport I was invited to an Easter Breakfast with my neighbors.  We had egg fights and then went out to swing so that the mosquitoes don't bite us over the summer.  A nice relaxing beautiful Easter day in Jurmala.

Later on some friends are coming over to color eggs and then tonight I fly to Baku.  A trip that I have been waiting for for a while.

Parents and Packing

My dad has been here already 2 weeks working on fixing up another of our houses.  My mother just arrived yesterday and its great to have them both here.  This week I am starting the first step to moving out of Latvia.  Both my parents arrived with an extra bag and I am going to try to pack up as much of what I will not need in Kuwait as I can.  But how can one decide now already what I won't need?  Other than my cold weather clothes (ski jacket, snow boots, gloves, hats), I am trying to figure out what clothes I won't need.

All in all it is making me very excited about my move and not needing jackets, gloves and such.  Honestly I don't think it will all settle in until I have my flight booked for Kuwait.  That still stands in front of me, but thankfully the school is booking it for me.

Books to read for teachers

Recently I have been reading many books about teaching or journals that teachers have written.  I have started to read the book Why Don't Students Like School it has been a thought provoking book to read.  I have only just started to read it and with the little time that I actually have to read I am getting through it at a slow pace.  But already the first chapter has made me think.  It first talked about how often do we really think and when we are thinking, are we actually thinking or are we just recalling a previous thought to help us solve the problem.  So far I am really liking this book and can thank my mom for recommending/buying it for me.  Even if your not a teacher, it could be interesting to read.

Spring is in the air

Spring is just about here but its sure taking its time in getting here.  My flowers are starting to bloom and the sun keeps shining.  But April showers I hope will bring even more May flowers.

Spring also brings so much to do.  This weekend was conferences.  This week we are having a Library sleep over then next week there is the international festival.  Along with all of this I am working on the yearbook and trying to get everything done for that.  Finally needing to figure out what needs to be done with the website.  The school year is slowly wrapping up but there seems to be more and more things going on to do.  I like being busy so this is a good time of the year for me.

Crazy times

Over the past few weeks I have been insanely busy.  Whether its a weekend workshop or getting ready for student lead conferences or its traveling to Istanbul . . life just doesn't seem to stop.

Biggest head ache right now . . yearbook and school website.  But everything will solve itself soon.  Its not life if you don't have a few rocky moments.

So the exciting part of that long list was traveling to Istanbul for the weekend.  I guess i had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprised and loved it.  The friendly atmosphere and the difference in culture all was exciting to experience. I even ended up buying a carpet.

All in all a great trip.  Check out my pictures along the right side here.
